About Belakku

Established in the year 2009, Belakku School for children with special needs under Sai Chaitanya charitable trust. It was founded by Mrs. Anusha N.C Ramesh to serve the Marginalized sections of society including children with disability, to support education and vocational training skills. We work with special children, adolescents and grownups with special conditions such as Cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Autism, Mental Retardation, Slow Learners.

Our work focuses on

 Provide relief to the families of these children by taking care of the children during part of the day, Provide continuum of care to these children on a long term basis.  Help the children to become more self-reliant through Life Skills building & Therapeutic programs.

My Story

Magana is a 14 years young child while studying at Government School our staff have been noticed and informed the parents about her disability. Roopa residing at the hostel. BELAKKU, as motivated to the parents in no of home visits got admission at Belakku special school. Her mother tongue is Telugu. She suffers from an intellectually and delayed development. Her brother Damodar also has the same disability and the same level of IQ. The family consists of 3 members Varalakshmi (mother), Magana father has passed away, her mother Mrs. Varalakshmi is aged around 55 years she is the earning member of the family, family belongs below the poverty line.

She is studying the ‘BELAKKU’ school the child joined the school at the age of 10 and has never repeated a class. She is currently studying at the vocational training center; she is very interested in making soap oil, phenol, beadwork, tailoring along academic learning also.

Before the ‘’BELAKKU’’ Intervention she was not good in ADLS and academics. She comprehends, remembers, and follows oral instructions or orders. She remembers things in the right sequential order. She learns better by listening to the person and she can discriminate between the left and right. She also finds the right lexis in order to express herself, but she has difficulty organizing his thoughts and expressing them correctly. The key role played by the “BELAKKU” teacher began this task by visiting the child’s home. To support the child to prepare an individual education plan, child assessment, and re-assessment support education in concisely & regular follow-ups for the child.
